Good morning! I have a drop-in visit for a senior dog today!
What is a drop-in visit? A drop-in visit is where I come over to your house while you're traveling, or at work, and care for your pets for a duration of 30 minutes or 60 minutes, depending on how much needs to be done, with the option of multiple visits a day. The care usually consists of feeding, water changes, playtime, litterbox cleaning/poop pick up, cuddles, and for dogs, a brief walk or outside bathroom time.
The dog I am caring for is Maxie, she is a 16 year old Cockapoo. Her owner requires me to come by her house in Leduc, for four visits a day (how lucky!).
A typical routine for each dog may vary as each dog’s needs are different, but they generally follow the same guideline! I, myself at Furvorite Pet Sitting, am proud to I follow your routine personally and closely so your dog will have a stress free time with me! Sticking to routine is best to decrease any anxiety or stress. I take dog sitting very seriously!
It's 7 AM, and when I arrive at Maxie's, I first slowly unlock the door and peek inside to make sure she isn't at the door, I don't want to startle her because she is deaf! I then pet her in a calm and gentle way and step in. She greets me with the cutest head nod and mega tail wag!
I give her a lot of head scratches and belly rubs before starting her routine. I like to start the first visit of the day with a nice, brief morning walk!
When we get back, I give her time to rest and I prep her food the way she likes it. She eats most of it while I am with her. While she eats, I clean her water bowl and top it up with fresh water.
I then begin vacuuming - she is deaf so she doesn't mind the vacuum at all! A clean home is a happy home for your pup!
She usually follows me and watches me while I quickly clean, and then this is when I start to play with her! She has soft chew toys, and she loves catching them when I toss them to her.
Treat time comes after because she is such a good girl! Maxie loves her dog treats!
I then cuddle with her for the rest of the time, and when I am done, I make sure everything is in its place and secure. I close the door behind me, ensuring the door is locked, and send an update to Maxie's owner!
During her second visit of the day at 12 PM, I come over and see that she finished her meal. I wash her food bowl and let it dry so that it is ready for her dinner later. This visit includes me giving her company and lots of playtime so she stays stimulated.
After the time is up, I make sure everything is secure and lock the door behind me. I send a second update to her owner.
The third visit happens at 5 PM, and this is when I decide to take her on another brief walk. The walk usually lasts 5-10 minutes around the block. She does her washroom duties, and we head back home for her second meal. Before I go, I give her a lot of head scratches and belly rubs and lock up and send an update to her owner.
Finally, the last drop-in visit of the day occurs at 10 PM. I spend my time cleaning her food bowl and adding extra for night time munchies, some cuddling and one last washroom break in the backyard.
Day 1 is complete and the following day will be the same routine.
